My Reiki journey: healing the body, mind, and spirit
The first time I experienced Reiki, I was in my early thirties, navigating the storm of a messy divorce. My life felt overwhelming and painful, and I was open to anything that might ease the emotional weight. Reiki was a small light in that dark time, though I didn’t fully understand its potential back then.
Life moved on, and it would be nearly 15 years before Reiki crossed my path again. This time, it came during one of the most challenging moments of my life. I found myself in a hospital, recovering from a medical emergency that knocked me completely out of my comfort zone. That weeklong hospital stay forced me to pause and reevaluate everything—my lifestyle, my choices, and how I was truly caring for myself.
It was in that hospital room that Reiki re-entered my life. An old friend, who would later become my Reiki Master Teacher, visited me. She offered her guidance, encouraging me to embrace meditation and self-care practices. Most importantly, she offered Reiki. That experience became the foundation of my healing journey, helping me recognize the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit.
Reiki didn’t just heal my body; it helped me find peace and balance within myself. The impact was so profound that it eventually led me to become a Reiki practitioner and teacher. I wanted to share this incredible gift with others, to pass along the same sense of hope and healing that was shared with me.
This is why I teach Reiki today. As Usui Sensei, the founder of Usui Reiki, once said: “It is much better to give this power widely to a lot of people in the world and enjoy it among them than to keep it exclusively.” Reiki is meant to be shared, and I am honored to teach and offer this practice to those who feel called to explore it.
If my story resonates with you, perhaps Reiki is meant to be part of your journey, too. Whether you’re seeking balance in your life, healing, or simply a moment of peace, Reiki has the potential to transform in ways you might not expect.
